Hockey Players Network
Hockey Players Network is a recreational shinny hockey group for players 50 years of age and older. The focus is on fun, fitness, friendship, and safe, respectful play. Games are informal and non-contact, following the general spirit of shinny hockey: keep the game moving, share the puck, respect all players, and enjoy the ice.
Hockey Players Network is designed for players who want a positive hockey experience without the pressure of competitive league play. The goal is to provide a welcoming environment where players of different skill levels can participate, stay active, and enjoy the game.
Basic Rules of Conduct
1. Respect Comes First
All players are expected to treat teammates, opponents, goalies, organizers, rink staff, and spectators with respect. Verbal abuse, intimidation, threats, or aggressive behavior will not be tolerated.
2. Recreational Play Only
This is shinny hockey, not competitive league hockey. Players should avoid overly aggressive play, unnecessary pressure, or behavior that puts others at risk. The pace should remain enjoyable and safe for everyone.
3. No Body Contact
Hockey Players Network is a non-contact environment. Bodychecking, intentional collisions, dangerous battles along the boards, and reckless play are not permitted.
4. Keep Sticks Down
Players must keep their sticks under control at all times. High-sticking, slashing, hooking, cross-checking, or using the stick in an unsafe manner is not acceptable.
5. Share the Ice
Players should be mindful of ice time and puck possession. Everyone should have a chance to participate. Avoid dominating the play or excluding less experienced players.
6. Respect the Goalies
Goalies are essential to the game and must be treated with respect. Avoid crashing the crease, taking unnecessary close-range slapshots, or making contact with the goalie.
7. No Fighting or Retaliation
Fighting, threats, retaliation, or escalating conflicts will result in removal from play. Disagreements should be handled calmly and respectfully.
8. Play Safe and Stay in Control
Players are responsible for skating within their ability and maintaining control of their speed, stick, and body. Safety is more important than winning a puck battle.
9. Follow Organizer Decisions
The organizers or designated captains may make decisions regarding teams, conduct, safety, or player participation. Their decisions should be respected to keep the group running smoothly.
10. Good Sportsmanship
Players are expected to encourage others, help keep the atmosphere positive, and remember that the purpose of Hockey Players Network is to enjoy the game together
By participating in Hockey Players Network, players agree to follow these expectations and contribute to a safe, respectful, and enjoyable shinny hockey experience for all players 50 and over.
